Your CAAK Board has been hard at work planning the Spring Conference and One Day Code seminars across the State. As you are probably aware, with the current state of the economy, and recent changes with the INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL training offerings we have had to adjust our training classes to be more streamlined.

It’s time to consider the CAAK Scholarship Application submittal for the 2012 Awards.

The Scholarship Committee has approved the following name change for the 2012 scholarship year. Name Change Announcement: Instead of awarding three Tommy Larson Awards as in the past, we will offer 1 – Tommy Larson Award, 1 – Joel Scarbrough Award and 1 – Robert Blanton Award. We also offer The Code Related Studies Award, Member Award and ICC Conference Award.

All Scholarship Applications are to be sent to CAAK Executive Assistant, Mr. Jim Branham, 3608 Afton Place, Lexington, Kentucky 40515 or jimbranham@rocketmail.com  (859-273-0009).**

I would also take this opportunity to encourage our members to inquire (@ iccsafe.org) about the ICC Foundation, Code of Honor Scholarship Awards to the 2012 ICC Annual Business Meeting and Code Change Hearings. The Code of Honor Scholarships can aid in the relief of up to 50 % of the total cost to attend this historic event in code history. As ICC celebrates the Year of the Member, we must remember to take full advantage of the benefits offered to the members of the premier organization in building code development and safety.

In closing, I would request that All CAAK Members participate in this year’s 2012 ICC Building Safety Month (May) Program. Please forward all local proclamations, education events- news articles / television briefs and pictures to the Board of Directors to promote our organizations activities in this most worthwhile endeavor of education and building safety.

Please feel free to contact me for any questions or comments regarding the CAAK Scholarship Member Benefit Programs.
